Athletics
Alpha Delta Phi strives for its members to be well-rounded and involved in all facets of extracurricular activities – and this is best demonstrated by the athletics that we are heavily involved with. The men of Alpha Delta Phi have pushed themselves to be in the top three ranking in sports points out of all Greek organizations, and very close to the top out of all organizations in UBC. Having recently won the UBC REC Hindmarch Division Sports trophy twice, Alpha Delts consistently account for almost half of the top ten men in sports at UBC. From winning intramural leagues to beating countless REC events, Alpha Delta Phi continues to rank as one of the top fraternities involved in sports on campus.
As leaders in sports on campus, we highly encourage our members to participate in all events, regardless of skill level. As a result, every Alpha Delta Phi member participates on at least one sports association. In addition to our numerous elite teams in volleyball and soccer, we host many beginner teams especially with some of the leading sororities on campus. Alpha Delta Phi endeavours to uphold its prominent position in sports on campus by encouraging all members to become a part of our continuing excellence in athletics.
The Triple Crown
In addition to chasing the coveted Men’s Hindmarch Cup in the 2010/2011 year, our BC Chapter of Alpha Delta Phi was aiming to make UBC history by winning a third consecutive Triple Crown. We had our sights set on victory in the three grueling challenges that comprise the award: Day of the Longboat, The Great Trek and finally, the infamous Storm The Wall. To win the most prestigious athletic award given by UBC is clearly no small feat, but to have won it twice consecutively is something we are very proud of, being one of only two unit teams in UBC history to have ever succeeded in doing so. Our team won first place for the third year in a row in the Great Trek, and second place in Day of the Longboat; we at Alpha Delta Phi are striving to win first place in the upcoming Storm the Wall. We welcome all who share our tenacity and drive in athletics to help us win these events, and we commend your courage to do so.
