Quarterbacks Ben Graham (alumni) and Dave (potential rushee) each passed for many touchdowns. However, Dave would have done a lot better had Gerald not dropped all the balls in the end zone! Graham and Jeff Blake (active) found each other in the end zone throughout the game to keep the score a healthy lead. Active Brother Anthony Bryson also had some surprising catches, and runs.

Between games we took a break, listening to Tim Laidler’s (alumni, former House Manager) brilliant story of Nathan Woolard (alumni) in the classroom.

We followed up with a game of soccer. Adrien “Brick Wall” Lee, goalkeeper (alumni), was a beast in stopping many breakaway runs.

Tired from running around, and beaten up by bare feet on turf, we headed to the house for BBQ and Beer. Brother Blake manned the grill, churning out 30 plus burgers and a few dozen hot dogs to hungry Alpha delt’s. With grilled onions, fresh tomato and lettuce, the food was a hit. We shared stories, laughed, and enjoyed the company of our brothers – active and alumni – as many of the actives have not been around since the end of the school year.

Then we cracked a few beers and the rest is a blur…  Just kidding, someone had the bright idea of freezing the 30 pack so it turned out to be a refreshing beer … slurpee. Mmmmm.

The Alpha Delt’s also claimed the Earl Award victory for the second straight year as brother Glendon Inkster received an amazing 2811 points.

The Alpha Delta Phi Alumni Association also won Storm the Wall, and our proud to announce their first ever Storm the Wall victory. A mix of veterans and first timers stormed in true ADP fashion, rallying around the white, green and black to take home the UBC Alumni Championship. With a throng of new graduates expected this spring, the Alumni Association is looking forward to welcoming its new members and participating in more UBC sporting events in the future.

Keep an eye out more up coming alumni events, namely alumni sports day held in the summer.

The Alpha Delt and ADPi Corec Futsal team also managed to pull off a win earning the Alpha Delt’s their 2nd shirt of the day as they beat the Beta Gams 9-3.

The Alpha Delt’s 3rd shirt came from their win in a tough and close 1 goal  game to Beta in Men’s elite futsal. It was back and forth all game both teams were playing great. However it was the goal in the last 5 minutes from Glendon Inkster that sealed the deal.

The Alpha Delt’s also had a shot at a 4th shirt for the day in men’s 11v11 soccer vs MED FC. This was a hard fought game, where they faced an unlucky break at the end as MED FC capitalized. In overall it was a great season for the team. Thanks again to our imports Paul Gosset, Baldeep Sidhu, and Amit Kainth, they can enjoy our keg at ACF!

The Tokyo Pandas (ADPi and Alpha Delt) made their semi-final co-rec game a nail-biter as they forcefully managed to pull through to the finals last Sunday in overtime. The sudden death intensity, however, did not get to the Pandas’ heads while goal keeper Glendon Inkster, defender Shamai Cohen, and Forwards Brendan Crossley and Matthias Kempe worked skillfully with their teammates to score the exhilarating goal in the last minute of sudden death overtime. We wish the Pandas the best of luck as they take on Beta and Alpha Gam in the finals next Sunday!

Men’s 11 on 11 outdoor Soccer

The men’s outdoor soccer team have played four league games and are on their road to the finals as they went undefeated in the entire season. Captain Jeff Hart and midfielder James Readman played exceptional in all matches and have contributed greatly throughout the entire season. James’s hard work and effort throughout his 47.5 seconds of game play were key in Alpha Delt’s road to the finals!
