Great Trek Champs
It’s no secret that the brothers of Alpha Delta Phi BC Chapter are relentless in their pursuit of achievement whether it be social, academic or athletic, and even when all 3 of these aspects come together we do our best to make it work. Halloween weekend was such a case, where a gruelling week of midterms for the majority of the brothers ended with a Friday night Halloween bash at the house. Sleep deprived and a little worse for wear we all rallied early Saturday morning and assembled at the starting line of UBC REC’s Great Trek Race and Relay. The race is one of UBC’s oldest traditions, and it is held every year to commemorate the Great Trek of 1922 that led to the building of UBC’s Point Grey Campus. Amidst beautiful autumn scenery that we were a bit too tired to fully appreciate, 12 brothers ran the 8km relay, with 4 of us comprising the team that took first place overall and added one more trophy to our display case. Congratulations are in order for the winning team comprising Active Brothers Luka Bogdanovic, Anton Røthe and George Hatzikiriakos, as well as Pledge Brother Mario Mendez. This is now the second year in a row Alpha Delta Phi has taken first place at the Great Trek, and hopefully not the last!
